Paul/Suzanne 2.0

Shipping in late September will be Paul/Suzanne v2.0 (Public Beta vers).

To date, no final specs have been released as the project is still being coded, although the following pre-release screen shot has been made public:

(photo deleted, because I don't really want to be that sort of parent, but I'll probably end up like that anyway. You know, the sort that gives its child a myspace site and a blog and writes irritating messages that come from a 3 week old baby.)

I like you old stuff better than your new stuff 2

In my humble opinion the last great ‘old style’ REM album was ‘New Adventures In HiFi’(NAIHF). If you’re after ROCK, then (as Syme mentioned) its ‘Monster’ hand down.

But R.E.M where never a ROCK band, well not really, They did covers of ‘Toys In The Attic’ (Aerosmith) and ‘Strange’ (Wire) but they also did covers of ‘Wichita Linesman’ (Glen Campbell) and ‘8 Miles High’ (The Byrds) and I think spiritually REM come closer to the last 2 than the first 2. Whatever way you paint them, they are good ole’ boys that grew up on rural Georgia in the 70’s.

Yes they seem to have lost their way, many commentators mention that the downward slide coincided with Bill Berry leaving, siting album sales of ‘UP’, ‘Reveal’ and ‘Around the Sun’ as proof of this. Personally ‘Up’ is one of my favorite albums, no so much a rock album as such, but it has some good points nevertheless. ‘Reveal’ I like too, but there is only a few songs on ‘Around the Sun’ that I can listen to – One more like that and I would have to call it quits.

The producer for their next CD is a guy called Jacknife Lee, who produced U2’s last album, so there is hope yet.

BTW, they are releasing a version of John Lennon's ‘#9 Dream’ with Bill on drums for a charity project. Have a listen.

I command you to Wank! Redux!!

KungfuSyme recently added a post about superhero comics, Seduction of the innocent and all that (take a look at my Uni Graduation catalogue, if you have one, and you see my artsy quote is from Dr. Fredric Wertham. God, an Art School comics Nerd, whoda thought?)

Anyway, I was nerding on the net and found posts on The Comics Journal Message Board about Unintentionally Sexual Comics Covers/Panels. So I thought I'd share some covers that Syme maybe hadn't seen.

Kraken!

Just making sure we all saw this: Super squid surfaces in Antarctic
Rest assured, when Ms Emma and I are plundering 17th century
Spanish gallions, we will be well prepared for the Colossal Squid.

Ive got a PDF on the desktop breaking down the first hardcover printing of 'The Acme Novelty Library' into its various episodic parts, explaining what's new and whats been published previously. (eg: Page 5, reprint from Acme Novelty Library issue 6. 4th panel redrawn ). Its called 'Acme_Hardcover_Analysis.pdf'

anyway...

the way the text below the icon is sitting it looks like this:

Acme_Hard

ysis.pdf

At least twice a day I catch the file out of the corner of my eye and think there's some sort of porn sitting on the desktop.
