How did the whole Emo thing pass me by? I like to think that I know whats 'going on' and that I'm hip to the kids. But, I had no idea that there was a thing , a style, called Emo. It must ne pre-middle age setting in.

I think it's because it seems to be made up by the media. There was an article in the paper here that made them seem like quasi-Goths who watch The O.C.. Although I didn't really get through the story because it just seemed so confused and confabulated.
But yes, you're getting old.
I have an actual teenager staying with me for the next 2 weeks.
I'll ask him - but his Nerd / Dag genes are pretty dominent, (look at his parents - what choice did he have?)so he may not know.
