About 2 months ago Suzanne and I finally bought ourselves a digital video recorder, mainly because I got sick of having a weeks worth of VHS tapes littering the floor and Suzanne got sick of me taping over unwatched episodes of ‘Cold Case’. Think of it like the evil offspring of a VCR and home computer. Twin digital tuners mean that we can record two stations simultaneously while watching a pre-recorded show, and, recording to hard drive also means that we can do away with the 3 hour (or 6 hour on long play) ceiling on recording (who remembers to change tapes mid-week, I certainly don’t)
I distinctly remember thinking when we purchased the box that we will never fill up 40 hours of disk space, and if we do then we need to seriously re-evaluate our lifestyle.
I’ve come close to re-evaluating my lifestyle twice.
And now comes my biggest test – BB06. It’s so easy to say record 7-7.30 pm, Network 10, Mon-Fri, and quickly hit record when I’m going to bed so I can tape ‘Up Late’. (for all you on Imparja Television, Up latre is a live stream with mindless prattle from the studio, usally 11.30 to 1.30am each night).
I like that fact that I’m able to do that, as well as record any other show on a whim. For a few weeks I had ‘Secret KGB Kennedy Assassination Files’ and ‘Secret KGB UFO files’ as well as episodes of Four Corners to watch. Realistically I don’t have enough hours in the day to watch everything we record. Better to have recorded and deleted than to never have recorded at all.

Suzanne says hello
Well, It's Suzanne here. As this blog is called "The Paul and SUZANNE show I felt it was about time I actually came out. Yes I am not a figment of Paul's imagingation. It's unfortunate that I really don't have anything to say..... but I miss Brisbane and my (our) nice home....

Chargrilled Doughnuts
OK, the camera was out and I felt like sharing..
Chargrilled Doughnuts.
1. The best doughnuts to use are ones that are almost a day old. None of those fancy ones from speciality shops, go for the 6 for a buck fifty variety from supermarkets.
2. Heat your char grill, but not too hot. The added sugar and oil make the doughnuts really easy to burn.
3. Now this is why we use old doughnuts. Place a plate on top of the doughnut so that it squishes down slightly. Fresh doughnuts will tend to collapse at this stage. What works best for me are freshly thawed doughnuts. (that way you can buy that pack of 12 when the Wife’s not looking and store them in the freezer). Remember, freshness isn’t really an issue, so you can use those ‘end of day red spot special’ doughnuts that you would normally need a large coffee to get through.
4. Woops, a little too hot. This batch had been thawing overnight in the fridge, so I’m still trying to find the right balance between heating through and char grilling. Don’t forget to put the plate back on top.
5. And that’s it. A nice warm, oily, crunchy doughnut.

OK kids, we need a manifesto.
A set of guidelines.
At least we can tell future gererations - "I was there"

Just 1 photo..
..yes I know.
I'm at home.
I'm not working.
I need somthing to fill in the hours.
Next year it will be 1 only.
And perhaps we should make it on the hour, regardless?

Lets celebrate April 20!
Camera ready, Its April 20!
I spent yesterday floating around the Sydney CBD (Opera House, Art Gallery, British Tourists) without a camera, so yesterday would have been far more pictorial day. Today’s plan is, sadly, washing clothes, watching ‘The Family Guy’ and going to the shops.
Hold on to your hats kids, this is going to get exiting!
